Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the event?

The Unite for Veterans, Unite for America Rally will be held in the center of Washington DC on the National Mall - the event stage will be just north of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum where 6th Street crosses the Mall. See below for detailed transportation guidance.

Is there transportation assistance to attend the event?

We’re currently exploring options to help organize regional transportation to Washington, D.C., but nothing has been finalized yet. We’ll share any updates broadly once plans are confirmed. In the meantime, we encourage attendees to begin making travel arrangements if they’re able.

For day-of travel, here is some initial guidance on public transit and parking:

Public Transportation

D.C. has an excellent public transit system (Metro rail and Metro bus) — we recommend you take advantage of this if possible. Information and schedules for Metro can be found at www.wmata.com.

The closest Metro strops to the rally location are Smithsonian/National Mall at 12th Street on the Mall; L'Enfant Plaza at Maryland Avenue and 7th Street, SW; & Archives-Navy Memorial at Pennsylvania Avenue and 7th Street, NW.

Parking at the National Mall

Parking throughout the District of Columbia is restricted generally (see individual area signs for site specific closures/restrictions) from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. to facilitate cleaning and maintenance. Private paid parking garages and lots can be found downtown north of the National Mall.

Within the National Mall, metered street parking is generally restricted to three hours and is available along the Mall on Madison and Jefferson drives; on Ohio Drive along the Potomac River between the Lincoln Memorial and Jefferson Memorial; or in Lots A, B & C south of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

The National Park Service highly recommends that you make use of the efficient public transit system (Metro rail and Metro bus). Information and schedules for Metro can be found at www.wmata.com.

Are there local events happening outside of Washington, D.C.?

We’re working on ways to support community-based events outside of D.C., but we don’t have specific details to share at this time. If you’re interested in organizing something locally, we encourage you to reach out to your local veteran service organization to explore the possibility of self-organized gatherings.

What are the best travel and lodging options?

For flights:

  • DCA (Reagan National) is the closest airport to downtown D.C., but often the most expensive.

  • IAD (Dulles) is farther out, with typically cheaper flights and access to the Silver Line Metro into the city.

  • BWI (Baltimore) may also offer competitive pricing, but the direct rail line can be complicated — a bus or rideshare is preferable.

For lodging:

  • Affordable options are often found in Arlington (Clarendon or Ballston), Crystal City, and Alexandria (Old Town) — all budget-friendly and accessible by Metro.

  • Metro-friendly neighborhoods in D.C. include NoMa, Navy Yard, Columbia Heights, Capitol Hill, Eastern Market, and Shaw — all with easy access to the National Mall and a range of accommodations.

We recommend booking early, as hotels and rentals fill up quickly in the summer. Additionally, the June 6th weekend is D.C. Pride, so lodging will become even tighter the closer we get to the event.

Is housing provided for participants?

We are not able to provide lodging or accommodations in D.C. at this time. We recommend making your own travel and housing arrangements as early as possible.

How can I help if I can’t attend in person?

The most effective way to help is by spreading the word. Share information about the rally with your friends, family, and networks — both online and offline. You can use our Social Media Toolkit to post and tag us using @Unite4Vets.

Can I speak at the event?

We’re still finalizing the speaker lineup for the June 6 rally. We truly appreciate your interest and support. While we can’t make any commitments yet, we’ll be in touch if an opportunity arises.

Who is organizing Unite for Veterans?
